Go Global’s Fall Career Workshop

The Fall Career Workshop was a great success - our many thanks to students who participated and attended and to our guests and participating staff. You can review a complete schedule of the events below. Also provided below are links to resources produced during the workshop, including: an outline of Jenny Pilling’s keynote address, a guide to fine-tuning and internationalizing your resume, and a unit comprised of “before” and “after” resumes that includes the comments of career center staff.

  • Keynote Address by Jenny Pilling, United Nations Mission in Kosovo
    Time: 7:00 pm / Location: 4151 Grainger Hall.

    Jenny Pilling is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison (MA ‘92, BA ‘90) with extensive international and overseas work experience. She currently works in the Personnel Section of the United Nations Mission in Kosovo, having served previously as a Civil Affairs Officer with the Mission for three years. She has worked as a program coordinator and assistant director at the Center for Latin American Studies at the University of Chicago, and with various government agencies and non-profit organizations in Washington, D.C.

  • This event is coordinated by the Latin American, Caribbean, and Iberian Studies Program.

  • Individual/Small Group Consultations with Jenny Pilling, United Nations Mission in Kosovo
    Time: 2:00 - 5:00 pm / Location: 301 Ingraham Hall.

    Requires appointment. Ms Pilling’s meeting schedule is now fully booked. If you would like to be included on a waiting list in case of cancellation, please email Go Global! with your name, email address, preferred meeting times, and the best way to reach you at short notice on Tuesday (include a phone number if appropriate). Meetings will be scheduled at 15 minute intervals.

  • “Effective First Impressions, Second Impressions and Third Impressions”: A talk by Kathy Siebert, Siebert Associates, Inc.
    Time: 7:30 pm / Location: 4151 Grainger.

    Kathy Siebert is the Vice President of Siebert Associates, Inc., offering Dale Carnegie Training throughout southwestern Wisconsin. She brings over 14 years of consulting experience to the business community and is completing an M.A. degree in Adult Education at the University of Wisconsin. Kathy has worked with hundreds of companies, coaching employees who seek to maximize their performance, become stronger leaders and add more value to their organizations.

    This event is coordinated and presented by the International Business Students Association.

The mini-career fair is meant to prepare students for International Opportunities Month (IOM), February 2004. IOM is organized by the UW-Madison Center for International Business Education and Research, and is a month-long series of events open to all students interested in pursuing international career options.
